MEET SUZANNE ION

I am 6th generation Hawaiian born - I grew up on the island of Maui and in the mountains of North Georgia. As a youth I was the only girl on an all boys soccer team, ran track, was a basketball cheerleader and member of the drill team/dance corp. I first fell in love with the energy of a group cycle class at The Jungle Club in Vero Beach (2009). I went on to get certified by Mad Dogg Athletics Spinning, achieving Three Star Elite Instructor status. I've continued my fitness education with Group X certifications through AFFA, ACE, TRX, Silver Sneakers, Mat Pilates and Tabata BootCamp.
After cheering my husband Brent on as he ran 11 marathons, I left the sidelines and started participating in 5k’s up through Full Marathons in Maui, Big Sur, and a top twenty overall women’s finish at the Lake Tahoe marathon. I loves the outdoors - from the ocean to the mountains. Whether it’s scuba diving, kayaking, or hiking in Western North Carolina or Glacier climbs in the Cascades, I'm always ready for a challenge. I've had my own health and weight challenges, which has given me a true passion for health and fitness - I lost over 70lbs after a debilitating illness through a commitment to interval cross training. With dedication and determination to get back into peak physical condition and teach again, I've found a renewed vitality.
My motto: “Someday I will not be able to do this, Today is not that day”.
